Cheapest Laptop developed by India

$35(Rs 1500) Laptop


India being well known for some of the worlds cheapest products at reasonable quality has another one to offer this year. Indian HRD(Human Resource Development) ministry sponsored cheapest laptop development project was offered to IIT's and IIS. This low cost laptop will be sold at a maximum price tag of $35 (Almost Rs 1500) and its other cheap variations will be sold at $20(Almost Rs 1000) and $10(Almost Rs 500). Target market for this product according to HRD is students.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has floated a tender for expression of interest (EoI) to develop the same on mass basis.

The ministry expects that after the successful field trial of 100,000 pieces, to be done by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Rajasthan, the requirement may further grow to 10 million pieces within a short span of one year.

The device will have 2 GB RAM, wi-fi connectivity, USB port and powered by a 2-watt system to suit poor power supply areas. The device is a single unit touch screen device.

  1. How can i disable and then ENable the touch pad. I have a led at the top left corner that if i touch, the touch pad is disabled. but when i touch it again it does not enable the touchpad again. DOnt knwo what to do.
